Whoever builds your website, a lot of the waiting comes from the same place: the things only you can provide. Gather these before you start, and everything moves faster.
Your logo, in the best version you have
Ask whoever designed it for the original files, ideally an SVG, or a large PNG with a transparent background. A screenshot, or a logo saved from your Facebook page, will look blurry on a large screen.
No logo yet? Say so early. A simple wordmark, your business name set well, can do the job.
Photos of you, your team and your work
Real photos build trust in a way stock images can’t. You don’t need a professional shoot to start:
- A few photos of you, and of anyone customers will meet
- Your work: finished jobs, before and after, your premises
- Taken in daylight, on a recent phone, held steady
Send the originals. Photos that have been through a messaging app are usually shrunk along the way.
The reviews you already have
Google reviews, kind emails, comments on social media: they all count. Ask the customer before you use their name.
Your services, and the areas you cover
Write them the way a customer would say them: “boiler repair”, not “heating system maintenance solutions”. Each main service, and each area you cover, can have a page of its own, which helps the right people find you.
Access to your domain and Google Business Profile
Your domain is your web address. You’ll need the login for the company you registered it with, so the new site can go live at the same address. If your email runs on that domain, moving the website doesn’t have to touch it.
For your Google Business Profile, you’ll be asked to add your designer as a manager, so your listing and your website can say the same thing.
What you don’t need
You don’t need to write the words yourself. With us, one call is enough for us to write every page. If you’re working with someone else, ask whether copywriting is included, because it often isn’t.
With us, this list is your Content Kit. You send it within 14 days of your kick-off call, and your first design follows within 7 days. See how it works.
