LinnStudio

Good questions, straight answers.

Everything people ask before they start, from what it costs to who owns the site and how we move the one you have.

Why LinnStudio

Why not just use a no-code builder like Wix, Squarespace or Webflow?

They’re fine if you have the time and the skills. You pay less per month, but the work is all yours: picking a template that other sites share too, writing every page, setting up the SEO and tracking, and making every change after that. It typically takes 10 to 50 hours to get to a first version, and the result often still looks like a template. You don’t own the site either: with most builders you can’t take it with you if you leave, and only Webflow lets you export the code.

Why not WordPress?

WordPress still runs a large share of the web, but it was designed over twenty years ago, and it shows. Every page is put together from a database each time someone visits, and most sites rely on a theme and a stack of plugins that all need regular updates. Plugins pile up and slow the site down, and most WordPress security holes come from plugins and themes, so a site that isn’t kept up to date becomes an easy target. That leaves you doing the updates, backups and fixes yourself, or paying someone a monthly retainer to do them. We build your site as plain, fast files instead, with no plugins to patch and nothing for you to update.

Why choose you over a traditional web design agency?

Agencies often ask for a large fee upfront, take months to deliver and charge for changes afterwards. We build custom sites for a fraction of that, with no build fee, one monthly price, and no minimum term. Your first design arrives within 7 days of submitting your Content Kit, and revisions are unlimited until you’re happy to launch. We also come from marketing and paid ads, so every site comes with tracking set up from day one, and you can see what’s working.

Can’t I just make a website with AI?

You can, and in minutes you’ll have something that looks fine. But an AI tool builds what you ask for, so the site is only as good as your instructions. If you don’t know what a good website needs, you can’t ask for it, and you can’t tell when it’s missing. That gap shows in the design, which looks like everyone else’s, and in the marketing, where the words could describe any business. It shows in conversion, with nothing planned to turn a visitor into an enquiry. And it shows in the tech behind it: search set-up, tracking, speed and security are all left for you to work out.

Will a new website guarantee me more enquiries?

No one can honestly promise that, and we won’t. What we guarantee is the quality: a fast site, proper copy, SEO foundations and tracking, so you can see exactly what’s working. If you want help driving more traffic, our Advertising and Local SEO add-ons are built for that.

Will people find my site on Google and in AI search?

Every plan is set up for search from day one. That means clear page titles and descriptions, a sitemap, structured data, fast load times and straight answers to the questions your customers ask. It helps Google and AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity understand your business. Business adds local SEO: your Google Business Profile set up and linked, and a page for every service and area you cover. Business Plus goes further, with local SEO and your Google Business Profile managed every month. It’s also an add-on on any plan.

What kinds of businesses do you work with?

Mostly small businesses that win work through enquiries and bookings. Solo suits sole traders, therapists, coaches, cafés, studios and new businesses. Business suits plumbers, electricians, clinics, cleaners, salons, accountants and anyone serving customers across several towns, and Business Plus suits the same businesses when most of their work comes through Google. If you sell mainly through an online shop, Shopify will suit you better, though we can build your main site around it.

Can you build an online shop?

Not a full shop. Shopify is the best home for one, and we can build your main site around it. If you take payments or deposits for your services, we can connect your site to Stripe, PayPal or your booking system. Setting up the connection is part of the build. Any fees those services charge, such as card processing or a monthly subscription, you pay to them directly.

Do you work with businesses outside the UK?

Yes. Everything happens online, from the Website Finder to our calls, and prices are shown in pounds or US dollars.

Pricing

How much does a website cost?

Solo, with up to 6 pages, is £59 a month. Business, with up to 30 pages, is £129 a month. Business Plus, the Business site with your Google reviews, local SEO and call tracking looked after too, is £349 a month. These are founder prices, for our first clients. All three have no build fee and include the design, the words, the build, hosting, security, backups, and unlimited changes done for you. There’s no minimum term.

What is a founder price?

It’s the price our first clients pay: £59, £129 or £349 a month. The struck-through price beside it is our standard price, which later clients will pay: £79, £149 or £427 a month.

Why is it so cheap?

Not because we cut corners. We live and breathe marketing, web design and development, and automation, and we’ve built our own system around all three. It handles the repetitive work behind every site, so we can deliver premium work at a fraction of what it used to cost.

Which plan do I need?

If you need a clear, professional site with a handful of pages, go Solo. If you offer several services or cover more than one town, go Business: it adds a page for every service and area, and premium design, with animations as visitors scroll. If most of your work comes through Google and you’d like your reviews and Google profile looked after too, go Business Plus. The Website Finder suggests one from your answers, and we’ll confirm it on your kick-off call.

What does Business Plus add to Business?

The same site, with the work around it done every month. Business sets your Google Business Profile up once; Business Plus manages it every month, with local SEO. It also sends a review request after every job and helps you reply, and puts a tracked phone number on your site, with a monthly report on your calls and reviews. Bought separately, Business with Google reviews and local SEO comes to £405 a month. If you leave, the reviews, local SEO and call tracking stop, and your site follows the same rules as on any plan.

Isn’t this more than Squarespace?

Yes, and it’s a different thing. Squarespace gives you the tools and leaves the work to you. We design, write and build your site, then keep improving it: the changes you ask for are done for you, simple ones in minutes, bigger ones within 48 hours. You’re paying for a finished website and a team that looks after it, not a template you have to fill in.

Why a monthly plan instead of one price?

Because it puts the risk on us, not on you. We design and build the whole site while you pay a month at a time, so you never hand over thousands before you’ve seen anything. And a website is never really finished: the same monthly price covers hosting, security, backups and the changes you need each month.

Are changes really unlimited?

Yes. Send as many as you like, and we’ll work through them one at a time. Simple ones, like new text, a photo or a price, are quick: usually done within minutes. Bigger ones, like a new section or page, take up to 48 hours (working days). Only brand-new features or a redesign are quoted separately, before we start.

What do you do each month if I don’t ask for anything?

Every month we make one improvement you didn’t ask for, like a speed fix, sharper copy or a new FAQ, and send you a short note on what we did and how your site is doing.

What costs extra?

Only what you choose. Our add-ons (Google reviews, local SEO, call attribution, speed-to-lead automations and advertising) start from £47 a month, plus ad spend for advertising. Business Plus includes Google reviews and local SEO, and on Solo, advertising is available and the others on request. Changes to your site are included in your plan, with no monthly limit. Brand-new features, like a new integration or a full redesign, are quoted as a fixed price before we start.

Can I change plans later?

Yes, whenever you like. Moving from Solo to Business, your plan moves to £129 a month, and every payment you’ve made so far still counts toward owning your site. On Business, you can add Business Plus at any time, or go back to Business: your site stays the same, and only the reviews, local SEO and call tracking start or stop.

What happens if I cancel?

You can cancel anytime, with no minimum term. Your domain, content and photos are always yours. Once you’ve made 12 monthly payments, the site is yours too, and we’ll send you the files with a handover guide. If you cancel before then, you can pay the rest of the first 12 months and take the site with you. Otherwise the site comes down. On Business Plus, the reviews, local SEO and call tracking stop when the plan does.

What happens after the first year?

Nothing changes unless you want it to. Your plan carries on at the same price, with hosting, security, backups and your changes included. The site is now yours, so if you ever decide to leave, you can take it with you.

Do I own my site, or am I renting it like on a website builder?

You’re not renting it. Your domain, content and photos are yours from day one. The site itself, meaning the design, code and the words we write, becomes yours after 12 monthly payments, or sooner if you pay the rest of the first 12. After that you can stay with us or host it anywhere, and we’ll help you move it. Most website builders never hand you the site. We always do.

Can I pay once and own the site outright?

Yes, if you’d rather. Instead of the monthly plan, you can pay once for the build: £499 for Solo or £1,299 for Business, and the site is yours from launch. From then on, hosting and support are £19 a month on either, with your changes and the 95+ speed guarantee included. The improvement we make each month without being asked comes with the monthly plans only, and Business Plus is monthly only, since its reviews, local SEO and call tracking are work we do every month. Ask about it on your kick-off call.

How we work

What happens after I use the Website Finder?

You’ll see your recommended plan straight away. If it’s a fit, you can book a free kick-off call right there, and we’ll send you a short video of what you get beforehand. If none of our plans suits you, we’ll say so.

Is the kick-off call a sales call?

It’s a short, honest conversation. We check your plan fits and answer your questions. If you’re happy to go ahead, your plan starts on the call and we get straight into learning about your business. If not, no pressure.

When does the build start?

Your plan starts on your kick-off call, where we learn about your customers, your services and the areas you cover. Then you send your Content Kit: your logo, photos, reviews and access to your domain and Google profile. The build starts as soon as it’s in, and your first design is due within 7 days.

How quickly can my site go live?

Your first design arrives within 7 days of submitting your Content Kit. We refine it with you until you’re happy, then launch as soon as you approve. What affects timing most is how quickly your Content Kit comes together and how quickly you reply with feedback.

What do you need from me?

One 30–45 minute call, where we ask the questions and do the thinking, and your Content Kit: your logo, photos, reviews, and access to your domain and Google profile. That’s it. You don’t need to write anything.

Do I have to write the words?

No. We write every page from what you tell us on the kick-off call, so it sounds like you, not a template. You’ll review the words along with the rest of the site.

I don’t have a logo. Is that a problem?

Not at all. We’ll set your business name in a clean typographic logo as part of the build, at no extra cost. If you’d like a full brand, with a logo, colours and fonts, ask us and we’ll quote for it.

What if I don’t like the design?

Revisions are unlimited. Send us your comments, all in one place, and we’ll keep refining until you’re happy to launch. The kick-off call tells us about your customers and what makes you different, so the first design shouldn’t hold any big surprises.

Can I make changes myself?

Yes. You get a simple editor for text, photos, prices and posts, and you can add pages from your ready-made templates.

What counts as a change request, and what doesn’t?

A change request is anything that changes your existing site: new text, photos or prices, a new review or FAQ, a new section, or a new page built from your site’s templates, within your plan’s page limit. You can send as many as you like. We work on one at a time: simple ones are usually done within minutes, and bigger ones within 48 hours (working days). What doesn’t count: brand-new features such as a calculator or an advanced quiz, new integrations, a redesign, or pages that need a new layout. We quote those separately before we start.

What if I need something bigger, like a new section or page layout?

Just ask. New sections and pages built from your site’s templates count as change requests, so they’re included in your plan, within your page limit, each with a 48-hour turnaround. Brand-new features or a redesign are quoted as a fixed price before we start.

What if something breaks after launch?

Tell us and we’ll fix it, at no extra cost. Hosting, security and backups are part of your plan, so if something stops working, putting it right is our job.

What if I’m not happy after launch?

Tell us what isn’t working and we’ll put it right. Changes are included in your plan, so there’s no extra cost to fix things. And if you’d still rather leave, you can cancel anytime.

Moving and hosting

I already have a website. Can you move it?

Yes, free. We move your content from wherever it’s built now, such as Wix, Squarespace or WordPress, and your domain can stay where it is.

Will I lose my Google ranking if I move?

Not if the move is done properly, and we plan for it from the start. We carry your key pages and content across and redirect your old page addresses to the new ones, so Google can follow the move. Rankings sometimes dip for a few weeks while Google catches up. They usually recover after that, and often improve, because the new site is faster and built with search in mind.

Can I keep my domain and email?

Yes, wherever they’re registered, including Squarespace. The one rule is that your domain is in your name, never ours. It can stay where it is: we connect it to your new site, and your email carries on as normal. Or, if you’d like it with an easier provider, we transfer it for you, to Cloudflare for example.

What happens to my old site when I move?

Nothing, until you’re ready. Your old site stays live while we build the new one, so there’s no downtime. Once you approve the new site, we point your domain at it and it goes live. Your domain can stay where it’s registered, and your email isn’t affected. If there’s anything on the old site you’d like to keep, tell us and we’ll bring it across.

Where does my website live?

On Cloudflare, one of the largest hosting networks in the world. It’s built for speed and security, so your site loads quickly wherever your visitors are. There’s nothing for you to manage: we look after hosting, security and backups, and you only log in to the editor when you want to change something.

What’s my website built with?

Most of our sites are built with Astro, a modern framework that sends very little code to your visitors’ browsers, so pages load fast. For more complex sites we use React. You’ll never need to touch the code. That part is ours to look after, and it doesn’t tie you to us: once the site is yours, after 12 payments, so are the files.

Can I host my site somewhere else?

Yes, once the site is yours: after 12 monthly payments, or whenever you pay the rest of the first 12. Tell us, and we’ll send you the site’s files with a simple handover guide. Your site is built as plain, fast files, so it runs on almost any host, such as Netlify, Vercel or your own Cloudflare account. We’ll help you point your domain at the new host, and your email isn’t affected. If your forms or analytics run through accounts we manage, we’ll move them into your name or help you set up your own, so nothing stops working. After the move, hosting and updates are yours to manage, and if you’d like help later, we can quote for it as a one-off, or you can come back to a LinnStudio plan.
